Christmas Time in the CO

Well, here we go.  First. Blog. Post. Ever.  I hope it lives up to expectations.

So it’s Christmas time again, and anyone with small children knows what a whirlwind this time of year can be.  But, oh do I love it.  Back when Danny and I were little, our parents didn’t have the time or the money to really do all the holiday activities.  So, it has always been a goal of ours to ensure that Emma and our (hopefully, sooner than later) future children get to experience all that is the Christmas season.

This year has been crazy so far.  It is the 15th of December and it certainly feels like we have been on the go almost every night.  I thought I’d share a few of our favorite holiday season activities this beautiful state has to offer.

The Polar Express

Do you believe?  We believe.  And that’s why we can still hear that bell ring.  This is a wonderful activity filled with song, hot coco, cookies, a theatrical reading of The Polar Express book, and of course, the big guy himself.  You do have to book this well in advance but it is totally worth it:  The Polar Express Train Ride

Carriage Rides

We live in Parker, CO and we love being here.  Every year on Main Street, the town does free horse and carriage rides on Saturdays in December.  I’d recommend packing a thermos of coco for the ride.  Even as a free activity, tickets are required and go on sale at 2 pm on Saturdays.  Be quick to select your tickets, they go fast:  Holiday Carriage Rides

Zoo Lights

Cannot forget Zoo Lights at the Denver Zoo.  This activity has become a staple of the Moff Family and is pretty self-explanatory.  The only recommendation I would have is to be sure to arrive early, the parking situation can be a little hairy and if it is cold out, the walk to the zoo will feel that much longer:  Denver Zoo Lights

Blossoms of Light

One place we have yet to adventure to but plan to make it a priority this year is the Blossoms of Light Event at the Denver Botanic Gardens.  Much like Zoo Lights, the Botanic Gardens are lit up in celebration of the season.  We plan to check it out and hope you do as well.  Like Zoo Lights, the event runs in the evenings from 5:30 to 9:00:  Blossoms of Light
